Two Poems

Lotus

Lotus lives only in its water.

Waters are rooted in me.

Here are roots called wishes,

they are deeper than promises,

and lotus called life grows

higher than hope,

no night can hide.

If You Know

I touched the grass in the morning. I felt strength.

As if the grass said to me: “If you know what future is,

it is because of hope, but there is only one place in the world

you can hope—

your own way.”

I touched the rays in the afternoon. I felt calmness.

As if the rays said to me: “If you know what life is,

it is because of freedom, but there is only one place

in the world you can be really free—

your own self.”

I touched silence in the night. I felt a miracle.

As if the night said to me: “If you know your own self,

it is because of will, but there is only one place in the world

you can be better—

heart of your loved one, if you know what love is,

it is because of that heart.”

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

Life, the simple name we give our breath.
